Games and rules

The library brings together different kinds of physical games, with information about players, equipment, setup, turns, scoring and winning. If you already know what you want to play, search for the game or a rule topic. If you are choosing for a group, the game finder helps narrow the options by the number of players, available time and equipment.

Game entries keep the rules reference, variations and sources together. Guided learning breaks a game into sections you can work through before playing. Your own house rules are kept separately, so an agreed variation at your table does not replace the original reference.

Keeping score

Use a quick scoreboard for straightforward point totals, or choose the available scoring setup for your game. Ruley keeps track of players, rounds and scores, with controls for corrections when an entry needs to change. The people at the table still play the physical game and decide what happened; the app records the information you give it.

Sessions can be saved and resumed. Each session keeps the rules agreed when it started, so changing a house rule for a later game does not rewrite an earlier one. Completed sessions remain in your history.

House rules and homemade games

My Games holds favorites alongside the games and rule variations you create. A homemade game can include its equipment, setup, instructions and scoring rules, so it can be kept with the rest of your library instead of scattered across notes. Games and house-rule sets can be shared as files; when you receive one, Ruley shows a preview before you choose to add it.

Common questions

Do I play the games inside Ruley?

No. Ruley is a companion for games played with physical cards, boards, dice and other equipment. It supplies reference information and scorekeeping; it does not simulate the game.

Does it need an internet connection?

The bundled rules, search and scorekeeping work offline. Opening an external source link or making and restoring an App Store purchase needs a connection.

Do I need to create an account?

No Ruley account is required. Personal games, house rules and sessions are stored on your device.
